THE SILENT CRISIS
The silent crisis facing foster care children and aged-out young adults is a growing issue that remains largely unseen by society. Every year, thousands of children are placed into foster care, often having endured trauma, neglect, and instability. For many, the support system disintegrates once they "age out" at 18, leaving them with little guidance, financial security, or emotional support. These young adults are thrust into adulthood without the resources or skills necessary to navigate life independently. As a result, they face alarming rates of homelessness, unemployment, mental health challenges, and involvement with the criminal justice system. This overlooked crisis highlights the urgent need for increased support and resources to help these vulnerable individuals transition to adulthood successfully.
